How it started
They met at Seth’s 22nd birthday party.
It was November 21, 1992, in Boone, North Carolina. Seth and Donna were both seniors at Appalachian State. This photo was taken about ten minutes after they met. They’ve been a team ever since.
Through more than thirty years and five homes, Donna has designed the spaces around their family’s changing lives. Different homes, different needs, and the same care for how each room looks and feels.

Donna learned by doing, from her family’s renovations to designing five homes for her own family. Self-taught, with an eye for color and how a room works, she helps bring your taste to life.
Donna has watched friends and family make homes of their own after long relationships. Working with several of them to create spaces that reflect who they are shaped Donna’s focus and the work of Marlowe Interiors today.
The Marlowe Family Lake House
She saw what it could become.
When Seth and Donna walked into yet another potential lake house, Seth’s reaction was immediate: “Ugh, this isn’t it either.” Donna’s answer came just as quickly: “I disagree. This is it. I can see in my head exactly what it will become.”
Donna brought that vision to life by rethinking the layout and connecting the rooms through color, furnishings, lighting, and personal details. What Seth couldn’t see at first became a home they both love.
Donna has designed five homes for their family, each shaped around what they needed at that stage of life. For Seth and Donna, the Marlowe Family Lake House is her crown jewel.
